Someone in 콘텐츠 마케팅 is following you: What’s Your Social Media Potential?

For many businesses social media has opened up whole new worlds of commerce, community and cooperation. It’s always interesting to me to hear the stories my clients tell of their online experiences. Most businesses recognize that they need an online presence, and need to be involved at some level in social media but are we really tapping the full potential?

So we drink the Koolaid and begin creating content on the web with the promise that it will result in traffic increases, but how many of us are actually prepared to address the kind of following we will garner with our content and really squeeze all the value we can out of our social media presence? Are we only interested in making the phone ring more? If so, are we missing out on the big picture? Someone is following you. Why are they following? What does it mean?

Clearly there are a lot of “followers” who don’t hold any promise for prospects, referrals, or engaging conversation. However – what does it mean that someone in 콘텐츠 마케팅 is suddenly following you? Is it possible that they could be a future partner themselves?  …Or are any of their connections the kind of people who might be valuable to your business?

Could it be that we too quickly dismiss the less than obvious potential of some connections online? We tend to fall into tight little groups that meet our expectations and fulfill our immediate needs, but I wonder what would happen if once a week we started engaging all the “one-offs” and oddball contacts that connect with us rather than sticking to the well-worn path of like-minded people who run in the same circles as us. How much opportunity is lost when we stick to the familiar and never explore the possibilities outside our comfort zone in social media or any other area of life? Have we even taken the time to consider exactly what we are expecting and trying to accomplish from our social media involvement? 

Hmm.. I’m going to give it a shot. I’ll let you know what I find out! I’d love to hear your story about a fortuitous encounter that started with a preternatural connection.
